Just last week I created a new stamp and thought I’d try it out with a repeating pattern. The cool thing is, I basically got three patterns from the same stamp. This is a continuous pattern using the same stamp throughout. After forming the cuff, I hand-textured certain parts of the pattern to give it more depth. I also polished the diamond patterns to add more highlights. Purple and green are complimentary colors and thought these two stones looked fantastic together. The purple stone is Sugilite, and the green stone is Broken Arrow Variscite. Each stone is set in a handmade chisel-style castellated bezel. I also added texture to the lower portion of the bezel to complement the texture on the cuff. It takes a lot of work to make a cuff like this. Using an ingot, the first step is to melt the sterling silver, then pour it into an ingot mold. After pouring the ingot, the bar of sterling silver then has to be rolled to a certain degree, then annealed, then rolled, annealed, etc., until the desired thickness is obtained. Then, once the desired thickness has been achieved, a blank rectangular section has to be cut, precisely, to achieve 90 degree square angles. Then, the edges must be filed to remove rough saw marks, all before initializing the stamping. Just that step takes an entire work day.
