This was my first time doing a Mokume Gane piece, and just like anything else, I learned how I could do it a second time, more proficiently. Nonetheless, I think it came out great! You can definitely see the layers of color. Gold on the external layer will help it keep the shine and while this piece ages, the second layer, which is copper, will start to look like a penny, which will add more character. I oxidized this piece as well! Silver and Copper both turn black in liver sulfur, which is why the details on the size divots remain black in color. That was intentional as it added a bit of depth to the piece. While the stone in the photo appears to have a dark reddish matrix, with the naked eye the matrix is black.
